Eastern Harps suffered the agony of county final defeat for the second year in a row when they were beaten by Tourlestrane in the Sligo senior football decider at Markievicz Park yesterday.Tourlestrane went into the game as underdogs but they defied the form book with a sparkling display of fast, incisive football.County player Gerry McGowan helped himself to four points as Tourlestrane built up a 0-6 to 0-2 half-time advantage.Harps came back strongly in the early stages of the second half, but wasted a number of easy scoring chances.At the other end, the impressive Matt Walsh hammered over four excellent long range points to put Tourlestrane firmly in the driving seat.John Egan and Richard Kennedy also got among the scores as Harps' challenge faded in the closing stages.It was Tourlestrane's first title since 1994.
