The Dublin United Golfing Societies Association (DUGSA) will celebrate its 77th year when the qualifying rounds of the 1999 championship are staged at the Hermitage Golf Club on the 19th and 20th of April with the final on April 26th. The much sought-after DUGSA trophy will again attract a huge entry with the numbers competing rivalling that of the Bushmills Tournament. Paul Kennedy from the Spawell Society takes over the presidency from PJ Conroy of Coca Cola while the new vice president is Leo Bermingham of Fingal.
Jack Tinnion (Guinness) and Tom Walsh (Artane) continue as secretary and treasurer, while the other members of the committee include Stephen Cahill (Fairways), Jack Dempsey (Fruit Traders), Michael Fitzgerald (Old O'Connell's), Michael Halligan (Santry), Eric Howard (Banba) and John Joe Maher (Fruit Traders). The patron is Martin Begley (Grocers and Confectionery Trades).
