However, while the quality of racing may be disappointingly low for a Saturday, a closer examination reveals some worthwhile punting opportunities.

None more so than Upper Mount Street in the Annstown Handicap Hurdle. Those of us who fancy Valley Erne at Naas tomorrow will be looking for a form boost from Upper Mount Street as John Mulhern's horse finished a decent fourth to Valley Erne at Punchestown last time.

Storm Gem has eight moderate opponents to take on in the Suir Maiden Hurdle and will rarely get a better winning opportunity over hurdles. Her best bumper form is superior to any of these, especially when fourth to the dead-heaters Promalee and Fine De Claire at Punchestown and before that when third to Cailin Supreme and Tempo at Leopardstown. Storm Gem also won a bumper at Navan in December.

Significantly she also has hurdles form and experience from when third to Jodesi and Kilcoo Boy at Leopardstown over Christmas and that makes her hard to oppose today.

Choice Jenny ran a nice enough race at Naas two weeks ago when fourth to Verrazano Bridge to suggest she has the winning of the bumper
