Reluctant wing Allan Bateman scored a hat-trick of tries as Wales's second string comfortably saw-off a poor American outfit at the Millennium Stadium yesterday. Lions centre Bateman ran amok in this non-cap international, claiming two tries before the break and another after it, leading the USA a merry dance.

Wales, fielding 13 of their World Cup squad but with no survivors of Saturday's 34-23 victory over France, were far too strong in every department.

This poor performance makes the USA's World Cup prospects look bleak, given that they are in the same qualifying group as Australia and Ireland.

Wales though, continue to go from strength to strength, as this worthwhile exercise illustrated. Around 30,000 fans relished every moment.
