SIGERSON CUP/ Quarter-finals:UUJ ... 2-8 Garda College ... 1-3Holders UUJ powered their way to a deserved win at Sligo IT grounds yesterday.

UUJ had the advantage of an extremely strong wind in the first half and, after Kevin Brady hit the post in the opening minute, two points by Down's Michael Walsh gave them a fine start.

They suffered a setback in the 18th minute when Niall Sheridan scored. However, a quick break out of defence soon afterwards set the UUJ attack in motion, Derry's Paddy Bradley finishing the move.

Points by Walsh and Bradley gave UUJ a 1-6 to 1-1 interval lead, and James Donaghy made the game safe four minutes into the second half with a low shot to the corner of Enda Daly's net.
