VEREVA kept her unbeaten record with a stylish victory in the Prix de Diane Hermes at Chantilly yesterday. It was the second victory in the fillies Classic for the owner-trainer-jockey combination of the Aga Khan, Alain de Royer Dupre and Gerald Mosse following on from Shemaka's victory in 1993.
A furlong and a half out John Gosden's outsider Ryafan, ridden by Frankie Dettori, was still battling on in front. But she faded in the closing stages to finish fourth.
Winning trainer de Royer Dupre said: "Vereva is a fast improving filly, though I wouldn't he absolutely sure that she would stay one and a half miles. The Coral-Eclipe is a possible target." Vereva, unbeaten now in three races, is by the Epsom and Curragh Derby winner, Kahyasi.
