NEWS: Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has refused to rule out a return to Lazio.
The Argentinian international, who left Lazio last summer for United in a £28.1 million deal, told Gazzetta Dello Sport: "I was very proud to find out that the Cragnotti family would like to take me back to Lazio. I feel good in Manchester and I don't think that going back would be very easy. But in life one does not know and I don't want to close the door to Lazio.
"And I must admit that in England, I have still not found the warmth of the Lazio fans."
Veron denied there is a rift with David Beckham, who has struggled to win a place in the first team on a regular basis recently.
The 26-year-old said: "It is not true that I have problems with David. I have a good relationship with him on and off the pitch. The fact that he has to be on the bench should not be surprising because this can happen at a great team like Manchester United.
"Beckham is one of the best players in the world. There are rumours that he might go to Italy but I think it will be difficult for him to leave Manchester."
Meanwhile, Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has claimed that the Serie A club almost signed Beckham last year.
"Last year we tried to do it and we were truly close to Beckham, but then the deal failed for a thousand reasons," said Moratti in comments reported by Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday. "Now I feel the prospects are impossible," added the Inter chief.
Gazzetta suggested that United could be interested in a swap-deal involving Inter's out-of-favour Uruguayan international Alvaro Recoba, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past.
Asked about the chances of such a swap, Moratti said: "But then those English end up asking for money. Lots of money."
Veron was also sceptical about the likelihood of Beckham moving to Serie A. "I know that he is dealing with a new contract but I don't think that will influence him," Veron said.
Rangers striker Tore Andre Flo is ignoring the speculation linking him with a move out of Ibrox and says he is happy to stay in Glasgow. The £12.5 million buy from Chelsea - a Scottish record - has once again seen his name linked with another club. This time it is Tottenham, with one report suggesting a £7 million fee plus
£3 million-rated Tim Sherwood is on offer.
"I won't be throwing the towel in at Ibrox. I will battle for as long as it takes to prove I am worthy of a regular place," said Flo.
Rangers yesterday signed Italian utility player Daniele Fortunato on a three-year deal on his 18th birthday. Fortunato passed up an opportunity to sign for AS Roma.
