Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Victor played the hero's role again last night as he set his side on the way to a 2-0 win over Galatasaray which revived their Champions League hopes.
Victor, who scored twice in a historic 3-2 win for Deportivo at Barcelona on Saturday, eased the Spanish side's nerves in the group B match after 40 minutes with a poacher's goal after Djalminha's shot had been deflected to him at the far post.
Galatasaray were reduced to 10 men on 58 minutes when Vedat Inceefe was sent off. And Djalminha made the game safe 17 minutes from time when he stroked in a penalty given after substitute Ahmet Yildirim handled on the edge of the area.
The result blew group B wide open. Galatasaray stay top with seven points but the Spanish champions are now just a point behind them, level with AC Milan.
Substitute Jose Mari scrambled an equaliser in the first minute of added time to give the Italian side a 1-1 draw with Paris St Germain in the other group B game at the Parc des Princes.
Laurent Robert scored with a free kick from 20 metres to give the French side the lead with 15 minutes remaining but Milan fought back to share the points.
