Dublin SHC Semis: St Vincent's will play Ballyboden St Enda's in next Friday night's Dublin hurling championship final after they won their semi-finals at Parnell Park yesterday.
St Vincent's beat O'Tooles 1-13 to 1-9 to join the club's senior footballers in the county final while Ballyboden defeated Lucan Sarsfields by 4-12 to 0-13.
Dublin under-21 forward Peadar Carton had rocked St Vincent's with an early goal but St Vincent's were soon back in contention with the free-taking of former Dublin dead-ball specialist Tomás McGrane bringing them level on 20 minutes.
Points from Dublin's Kevin Flynn and Liam Ryan ensured a 1-7 to 0-8 lead for O'Toole's at the break but St Vincent's, having opened with a McGrane point, then went in front when Shane O'Neill flicked home a goal after 33 minutes.
O'Toole's Flynn then put a point between the sides but St Vincent's registered scores from McGrane, Stephen Loughlin and Damien Russell to seal their victory in the last 10 minutes.
In the other semi-final, first-half goals from Emmet Carroll and Enda Kinsella helped Ballyboden establish a 2-5 to 0-6 interval lead over Lucan.
Wexford defender Malachy Travers kept the score ticking along with a series of frees after the break and despite the best efforts of Dublin forward Pádraig O'Driscoll, Lucan's interest in the game was all but over when David Sweeney fired the first of his two second-half goals past Lucan goalkeeper Daragh Cunningham with 13 minutes left.
