Ireland made a thoroughly disappointing start to their bid for honours in the Four Nations youth tournament in Yorkshire at the weekend when they were outplayed by a fiery Welsh side at Otley.
Wales built up a 15-0 interval advantage through tries by flanker Mike Kelly and wing Andrew Kingdom and a conversion and penalty by Leon Andrews.
Ireland cut the deficit when Oisin Hennessy crossed for a try 11 minutes into the second period after a splendid drive following a ruck. But it was Wales who had the last laugh with the best try of the game scored by wing Daniel Hitchings, who ran all of 60 yards.
