AUSTRALIAN rugby officials will decide tomorrow whether to revive the traditions of a Grand Slam tour by including an international against England to their end of season European itinerary.

The Wallabies were to play Tests against only Italy, Ireland and Scotland in October November, until the Australian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) agreed this month to add a Test against Wales at Cardiff Arms Park to their 13 match schedule. Australia will get a share of the Welsh gate receipts.

Several members of the ARFU board, which meets in Melbourne tomorrow, want to go one step further and turn the trip into a Grand Slam tour of Britain by negotiating with England to play a Test at Twickenham on December 7th.

If agreed to, the England Test would be staged in place of the end of tour match against the Barbarians, and see an already fatigued Australia play 12 tests during 1996.

However the scheduling of the fixture for December 7th, the date on which Australia were originally due to meet the Barbarians, will mean that England must play international matches on four successive Saturdays.
