Ruby Walsh performed the rare feat of partnering a winner at both Irish meetings when Scoss landed the opening R T Communications Hurdle at Limerick yesterday before the champion amateur travelled by helicopter to Leopardstown to land the bumper.

Scoss, trained by Ruby's father Ted, relishes testing ground and strode clear in the straight to beat Amocachi by seven lengths.

Jimmy Mangan has the final of the mares' novice chase series at Uttoxeter next March as the main seasonal target for Greenflag Princess, who beat Tempo by the minimum margin in the Aon MacDonagh Boland Novice Chase.

Kieran Gaule, riding his fourth winner since Christmas, got the six-year-old up in the dying strides to deny the front-running Tempo. "She has been a bit off colour in the past few months, and was also taking on some decent novices. But she appears to be coming back to form, and hopefully will go to Uttoxeter in March," said Mangan.

The father and son team of Michael and Paul Hourigan were unlucky not to complete a double on the card. Zaffaran Run was travelling much better than eventual winner Go Go Henry when stumbling on landing and unseating her rider in the Greenpark Maiden Hurdle, but the pair gained compensation with the easy success of Don't Waste It in the following R T Communications Handicap Hurdle. Don't Waste It will bid for another win on New Year's Day in the First Crack Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
