BRAY WANDERERS recorded their first win in five games against an understrength Sligo Rovers at the Carlisle Grounds last night.

International duty robbed boss Paul Cook of Benin striker Romuald Boco while injuries meant he was without Stephen Parkhouse, Mauro Almeida, Sean Doherty and Chris Butler.

The game finally suddenly came to life when Sligo took the lead on 36 minutes when Cretaro reacted quickest to beat goalkeeper Chris O’Connor from eight yards.

But Bray were level two minutes later when a 35-yard effort from defender Daire Doyle took a cruel deflection off defender Danny Ventre.

Then, on 55 minutes Gareth Coughlan beat the advancing goalkeeper Richard Brush from 12 yards after clever play between Darren Forsyth and Jake Kelly.

Sligo were unlucky on 80 minutes when an Owen Morrisey shot rebounded off the bar.

Bray had the final say in the second minute of added time when Gary McCabe fired home a penalty after the same player had been taken down by Ventre in the box.
