Weekend previews: War Of Attrition faces seven rivals as he bids to maintain his tremendous start to the season in tomorrow's John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase.

After defeating Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Kicking King on his reappearance at Punchestown in October, Mouse Morris' fast-improving chaser gained a narrow verdict over Rathgar Beau in the Clonmel Oil Chase last month.

War Of Attrition's chief rival in the Grade One event looks to be Michael O'Brien's former smart novice Forget The Past, the Michael Hourigan-trained Hi Cloy and Jim Dreaper's improving sort Jim. However, it will be a major shock if War Of Attrition fails to enhance his Gold Cup credentials.

Rathgar Beau will bid to make amends for missing last week's Tingle Creek Chase when he lines up for the O'Connell Warehousing Hilly Way Chase at Cork tomorrow. The nine-year-old was ruled out of a trip to Sandown just two days before the race after scoping badly, but trainer Dusty Sheehy reports him back in full health. Rathgar Beau topped a fantastic campaign when beating Moscow Flyer at Punchestown in April and he put up a satisfactory performance when second to War Of Attrition on his reappearance at Clonmel.

Sheehy added: "He might just have been a shade unlucky last time but that's racing. He's come out of it in great shape and has really improved for the run."

Dessie Hughes's Central House beat Moscow Flyer last time and he will try to follow up, with Mariah Rollins and Alcapone completing a select four-runner line-up.

Solerina makes a quick reappearance after her Grade One win last weekend when she contests the Giltspur Scientific Tara Hurdle at Navan today.

The eight-year-old mare took the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse last Sunday, but trainer James Bowe has decided to give her a second run in quick succession.

Bowe's son and assistant Michael said: "The only reservation I have is the race is coming a bit quick. Normally there's two weeks between the races and I would be an awful lot happier with another week gone.

"There's nothing for her at Christmas over two and a half miles though, so she will let her take her chance.

"She is fit and well so I see no reason not to run her."
