OLDHAM ATHLETIC stole a 2-1 win over Waterford United with an 80th minute goal at the RTC grounds on Saturday night. A battling Waterford side, with goalkeeper John Grace undoubtedly the man-of-the-match, gave as good as they got until they tired towards the end.

After 27 minutes, Waterford United went ahead when Joe Lawless fastened on to a long kick-out by Grace to slip the visitors' defence and give Hallworth no chance in the Oldham goal. Then, in the 38th minute, Sean McCarthy beat the Waterford defence to snatch the equaliser. In the 80th minute, substitute Martin Pemberton gave the visitors the winner with a shot from close range.
