Waterford IT 2-16 Galway-Mayo IT 1-5: WATERFORD IT carried out a second-half demolition job at Ballygunner yesterday as the full forward line of Timmy Hammersley, Kieran Grehan and Ray McLoughney notched all, but three points of their side's total.
GMIT, with Andrew O’Shaugh-nessy at midfield, took the lead in the 12th minute when Ronan Madden goaled. However, WITgoaled through Kieran Grehan for a half-time lead of 1-7 to 1-4.
The driving rain proved little obstacle to the WIT forwards who rifled over points as Grehan’s pace was well utilised. The game was over as a contest by the time Hammersley landed a goal.
