Waterford United 0 St Patrick's Athletic 2A typical end-of-season game finally exploded into life at the RSC early in the second half last night when two goals in two minutes from Keith Fahey and Aidan O'Keeffe wrapped up the points for St Patrick's Athletic.

On 61 minutes, man-o- the-match Fahey gained possession 40 yards out from goal and took two steps before sending a glorious drive, on the run, to the roof of the net, leaving goalkeeper Packie Holden rooted to the spot. Two minutes later, Fahey and Stephen Quigley worked a neat one-two to put O'Keeffe clear and he calmly steered the ball to the far corner of the net past the advancing Holden.

In fact, there was more goalmouth action in the first period of the second half than in the previous 45 and John Frost, Daryl Murphy and Kevin O'Brien all went close to opening United's account.

At the other end, Fahey sent O'Keeffe away down the left wing and he jinked his way past two defenders before unleashing a powerful shot that shaved the outside of United's far upright.

United tried hard to get back into the game, but, apart from a brave effort from Jose Quitongo that went out for a corner on 82 minutes and a close-range shot from Murphy three minutes later, St Patrick's were rarely threatened.
