AN exceptionally strong Wesley College had a little too much finesse for a Mount Temple side in the Leinster Schoolboys' Minor Cup hockey final yesterday at Grange Road.

Leading 1-0 going into halftime, Wesley soon found better shape in the second period and piled on the pressure. In the end they scored four more goals in what was a one-sided affair.

Mount Temple can take some solace from the fact that they faced one of the strongest minor teams for some years with young Graham McKoy up front outstanding for the winners.

It was McKoy who touched in Wesley's first following a fine cross from right wing Garry Worrell. Ten minutes later captain John Blakney went dribbling through with his final push hitting the covering Andrew Kinlan on the leg. Mark Dockeray converted the subsequent penalty for a 2-0 lead.

Four minutes later a short corner switch to Andrew Walker took Wesley's tally to three before Blakney himself added a corner for the fourth. A break away strike from Mount Temple's Derek Ledwidge gave his side some respite but Blakney added his second goal with a direct short corner strike just four minutes from full-time.
