WESTMEATH advanced to meet Louth in the quarter finals as a result of a narrow but merited win over Laois at Portarlington yesterday.
The final quarter produced the best football and Laois supporters were given great hope when David Sweeney scored his side's second goal five minutes from the end. However, as Laois sought the equaliser it was Westmeath substitute Larry Giles who kicked over the all important point.
