Wexford 1-19 Offaly 0-10:REVENGE WAS sweet for Wexford when they easily got the better of Offaly in the Leinster Under-21 Hurling Championship in Tullamore last night.
Beaten by Offaly at the same venue in the senior championship on Saturday night, Wexford were clear masters here and their passage to a semi-final meeting was assured well before the final whistle. Indeed, such was Wexfords superiority that they could afford to take off senior star, Jack Guiney just nine minutes into the second half.
Offaly were fairly competitive for much of the first half and put it up to Wexford. The home side started brightly and went into a 0-2 to no score lead but Wexford were clearly the better side once they found their feet. With Gary Moore in outstanding form, they led by 0-5 to 0-2 after 19 minutes and were 0-9 to 0-5 to the good at half-time.
Wexford were in total control for most of the second half as Offaly struggled to find any momentum. They pulled well clear and put the icing on the cake with a last minute goal from Aidan Nolan.
