Wexford bring three championship debutants into the team against Longford at New Ross on Sunday. Phil Wallace, at full back, Dara Ryan at centre back and Ollie Kinlough at centrefield.
Ronan Kinsella, son of the county's senior hurling manager Rory, is named at right wing forward and makes his first full championship appearance after coming on as a substitute in last year's replayed preliminary round tie against Westmeath.
One of the newcomers, Dara Ryan, is cleared to play courtesy of the Reinstatements (Mercy) Committee at this year's Congress which reduced a suspension imposed on him for breaches of registration rules.
Another of the debutants Ollie Kinlough has a sound championship pedigree. "His father won an All-Ireland with Roscommon," according to team manager Cyril Hughes. Frank Kinlough played in Roscommon's successful finals of 1943 and 1944 as well as 1946 which Kerry won after a replay.
The attack is at full strength with Scott Doran on the left wing despite the row rumbling on concerning his wish to transfer clubs which has gone to Leinster Council. "It's out of his head," says Hughes, "and out of his hands at this stage."
Jason Lawlor who accumulated 1-6 in the two matches against Westmeath last year switches corners to the right with 1996 UCD Sigerson medallist John Hegarty coming into the left after missing last year's championship matches due to exam commitments.
Meanwhile, Longford bring in five newcomers for the trip to New Ross. In goal Gordon Hourican replaces the injured Gavin Tonra who finished the recent League season as top penalty scorer as well as saving one along the way. The centrefield pairing of Aidan Keogh and David Hannify is also new to senior championship football.
On the wings of the attack, Sean Donlon and David Blessington also make their debuts. Donlon is the son of John Donlon who was centre back on the Longford team which won the League title in 1966 before going on to win the county's only Leinster title two years later.
Of the starting line-up, only Frank McNamee at centre back and evergreen left corner forward Dessie Barry have played on a successful championship team - the side which defeated Westmeath in 1990.
