National League/Waterford Utd - 1 Longford Town - 1: Waterford grabbed a consolation of sorts at Flancare Park last night as the beaten FAI Cup finalists clinched the point that ensured they finish ahead of Longford in this year's Premier Division table.

Last night's clash was the first time these sides have met since Longford's dramatic late Lansdowne Road show last month.

Waterford had to play out the last 30 minutes without Davy Breen. The midfielder was sent-off by referee Pat Whelan for striking Longford defender Graham Gartland. Much to their credit, the visitors did well to come from behind against the in-form home side.

There were very few chances in a poor first half. Longford's Stephen Paisley and Waterford midfielder Mark Clifford had the only real scoring chances before the break.
