No 36: Steve Lynex.
Club career: Started out as an apprentice in the 1975-76 season at West Bromwich Albion under Johnny Giles who then brought the winger to Dublin when he was made manager of Shamrock Rovers. Spent two successful years at Milltown (scored the winning goal from a penalty in the 1978 FAI Cup final against Sligo Rovers) before his wife's homesickness and the "high cost of living" in Dublin prompted his return to England.
Joined Birmingham and then Leicester (1981) where he played alongside Gary Lineker and Alan Smith, winning Leicester's Player of the Year award in 1983. Three years later he returned to Birmingham on loan before finishing his career with spells at West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff.
International career: Failed to win any caps during his career but played for a League of Ireland XI against Liverpool while he was at Shamrock Rovers.
Where is he now? Lynex ran the Red Lion pub in West Bromwich after his retirement from the game but, now 41, works for a security firm in the Birmingham area.
