Club career: Began his league career with Burnley in 1975, but it was while at Fulham, where he made 345 league appearances, that he first gained international recognition. In a 20-year league career, he had spells at. . . Southend, Bournemouth, Everton, Bolton, Norwich, Chelsea, Brentford and West Ham, finishing his career in 1994 with over 600 appearances to his name.
International career: Made his debut in 1977 when he came on as a half-time sub for Mick Kearns against Spain at Lansdowne Road and established himself as first-choice goalkeeper in 1979 and 1980, when he won 14 of his 33 caps. Kept 13 clean sheets in his 33 appearances.
Where is he now? When he finished his playing career in England, Peyton moved to Japan where he was appointed goalkeeping coach to the then new J-league champions, Jubilo Iwata. Two years later he switched to another Japanese club, Vissel Kobe, who were managed by Englishman Stuart Baxter. Had a brief spell in Hong Kong before moving to Sweden with Baxter when he was appointed manager of AIK Stockholm.
