Two meetings, 13 races and a total of 200 horses scheduled to race at Wexford and Down Royal this evening. In the circumstances, the nap has to go to Wherewilitall End.

Peter McCreery's horse goes in the handicap chase at Wexford with Kieran Gaule on board and the partnership look a reasonable bet in a mediocre great race. A similar description could be used for Wherewilitall End's last chase outing at Naas when runner up to Scoss but he did give the winner, unlucky since, something to do. He was unsighted on the beach at Laytown on Tuesday but is a Down Royal winner on good to firm ground so drying conditions will suit and he gets a nice chunk of weight from the likes of Irish Breeze and Francoskid.

This column has killed off Our Meg's chances more than once by foisting the nap on her and while that is unlikely to happen again, she could be worth one last chance in the opening maiden hurdle.

Our Meg has been disappointing but tonight's two and a half miles is an easy one and this is hardly the greatest field ever assembled. Sound Venture is the main danger but Our Meg is yet again marginally preferred.

John Oxx has an impressive record at the south eastern track and Sahara Song, a running on sixth to Union Project at Leopardstown on his debut should go close in the mile and five maiden.

Forest Lad did nothing too spectacular on his debut but he does have the assistance of Robbie Walsh in the first bumper while Jim Bolger's Renewed Spirit can go one better here than he did in a Ladies Race at Gowran last time.

Up north, the ground is already forecast to be good to firm and watering has taken place. Another horse that put in a decent placed effort at Gowran recently is Needsmoretime.
