Finn Harps 1 Bray Wanderers 0: Damien Whitehead's seventh-minute strike gave Finn Harps a narrow first-leg play-off advantage over Bray Wanderers at Ballybofey last night.

Harps took the initiative when Whitehead connected at close range with Niall Bonner's cross.

The visitors almost levelled six minutes later, but Stephen Fox put Ciaran Ryan's pass wide of the posts.

Wanderers goalkeeper John Walsh then parried Paddy McGrenaghan's effort before quickly smothering the rebound.

Bray went close again after the half-hour mark following Declan Boyle's miscued back pass, but Fox shot straight at Finn Harps goalkeeper Gary Ramsay.

Despite dominating proceedings at the start of the second period, the home side failed to create a telling chance.

Harps almost doubled their advantage with nine minutes remaining, but Walsh denied Bradley, ensuring Bray travelled home with hopes of overturning the deficit when the sides meet again on Saturday.
