NFL DIVISION FOUR ROUND-UP:SECOND-HALF goals from Seánie Furlong and Leighton Glynn at Pearse Park earned Wicklow the vital 2-9 to 1-11 victory over Longford that keeps them on course for promotion.
The home side led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the break and were looking good when midfielder Kevin Smyth extended that advantage with a great point early in the second half. However, Wicklow gradually got their act together and five points in a row kick-started their revival.
Meanwhile, table-topping Clare remain unbeaten after a thoroughly deserved 1-19 to 1-8 victory over London at Ruislip yesterday. Clare were good value for their five-point half-time lead with the score at 1-11 to 1-6 and a late surge saw them kick six unanswered points to ensured victory.
Carlow beat Kilkenny by 17 points – 2-19 to 0-8 – at Dr Cullen Park yesterday. Kilkenny were 1-13 to 0-2 in arrears at half-time but showed some resolve in the second half as they kicked four unanswered points.
On Saturday, Waterford defeated Limerick, 1-12 to 1-11, at the Gaelic Grounds.
