South Africa v England:Outhalf Jonny Wilkinson will captain England for just the second time in the second Test against South Africa in Pretoria today. England's injury and illness horrors continued when tour captain Jason Robinson failed to recover from a knee injury and was ruled out yesterday.
Coach Brian Ashton was adamant taking over the captaincy would not heap too much pressure on Wilkinson.
"He's captained the side before and he's in a position where a lot depends on what he does. Jonny had no hesitancy at all in accepting the captaincy, he's delighted," said Ashton.
"He ran the team training session today and was very good - he showed good organisational and motivational skills."
Wilkinson's only previous experience of captaining England was against Italy in March 2003.
England's starting XV shows six changes and a positional switch from the team that was crushed 58-10 by the Springboks last weekend in Bloemfontein.
Dan Scarbrough will earn his second cap as Robinson's replacement. Ben Skirving will make his debut at number eight, with Nick Easter moving from the back of the scrum to the blindside flank and Magnus Lund coming in at number seven.
Injuries have forced wing Iain Balshaw and flanker Andy Hazell to return home, Jamie Noon and Lund take their places. Fullback Mike Brown was ruled out of today's game on Wednesday with a stomach virus but Ashton said he is now fit to play.
