Snooker: Jimmy White's bid to qualify for the televised stages of the Royal London Grand Prix ended in disappointment yesterday despite him winning his last group match at Prestatyn.
The 44-year-old Londoner beat Northern Ireland's Mark Allen 3-1 to register his third victory from six qualifying matches. But with only two players progressing from each group, Allen later defeated Lee Spick 3-1 to win his fourth match.
Leicester's Tom Ford, who had already won three matches, was certain to finish ahead of White having beaten him 3-2 on Saturday.
White fell from eighth to 35th in the world rankings at the end of last season and his qualifying victory over Alfie Burden on Sunday was his first in a year.
