Tom Boland of the Island golf club has enjoyed a remarkable run of success this year which resulted in a reduction in his handicap of 9.4 down to 8. Tom started the successful run with 39 points in the Teachers' outing to Co Meath golf club and a week later he partnered his son Conor to win the fourball with a great score of 48 points, which included a front nine of 27 points, at his home club.
Tom then secured the Hamper in the final 18 holes singles competition of the year when his 40 points just edged out St Vincent's and former Dublin hurling goalkeeper Eamonn Burke by a point.
The Island golfer also enjoyed scoring two holes-in-one in the Millennium year. His first ace was at the Island on March 15th when he holed out at the 16th and he followed that with another ace at the 14th in Forrest Little on April 28th in the Hospice Foundation Classic.
