Winter wonders

Nancy Kelly is certainly getting all the women golfers in the south east out playing this winter. Kelly, the Lady Captain at Dunmore East golf club, is the woman behind the new South East Coast Ladies Alliance which has drawn over 40 members from Dunmore East, St Helen's Bay, West Waterford and the Gold Coast golf clubs.

The inaugural outing was held at Dunmore East last week with Maura Kenealy taking the top prize. Kenealy, who plays off a 23 handicap at Dunmore East, shot 32 points to win from Helen Mullally (20) with 30 and Olive Morrissey (28) also on 30.

The Minor section was won by Mary Galvin with 33 points from Angela Dingley, 32, and Marie Quinn, also on 32. The object of the society is to provide the opportunity for competitive golf during the winter months. Golfers in the south east interested in joining should contact Maura Kenealy at (056) 65671.
