CAMOGIE ASHBOURNE CUP: WATERFORD IT denied UCD a three-in-a-row and regained the Ashbourne Cup yesterday after eight years at Páirc Uí Rinn.
On a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-6, Waterford were full value for the win, and can be thankful for a productive opening half after which they led by eight points.
However, turning to play into the strong wind, they had a battle on their hands to keep the Dublin university at bay.
Waterford IT got the perfect start with a goal on five minutes from Mullinavat’s Michelle Quilty, who combined with Wexford duo Stacey Redmond and Ursula Jacob to fire past a helpless Mags Darcy.
