RICHARD Hannon's lightly-raced Witherkay can open his account in the Computer Timeform Handicap at Sandown today.
The three-Year-old has been progressing with each outing and on his third and latest start in a claimer over a mile at Salisbury the son of Safawan showed distinct promise.
Held up behind until making good headway in the final quarter mile before being forced to switch inside the last furlong, Hannon's charge finished strongly but could not quite peg back Monument, being beaten three-quarters of a length at the line.
Witherkay will be well-suited by the extra two furlongs of today's race and can continue his improvement and make it fourth time lucky in the £6,000-added contest.
