Peter Withnell yesterday became the latest player to leave Oriel Park when he moved to Irish League champions Cliftonville for a fee believed to be in the region of £7,000.

The Belfast club had made inquiries about the striker during the summer when they were told that he was not available, but the continuing financial problems at Dundalk have forced the board to reconsider. Withnell may be followed north by either Ray Campbell or Shane Reddish, both of whom are believed to of interest to Glentoran.
