Wolverhampton - 2 Kidderminster - 0:Kidderminster Harriers were left to console themselves with a six-figure boost to their parlous finances last night after Wolves finally made their superior status tell thanks to two goals from Kenny Miller.
Harriers will earn £100,000 from the two games, half of which the chairman Colin Youngjohns has promised his manager Jan Molby for team strengthening to preserve the club's league status. But it is the Premiership club who move on to a fourth-round tie against West Ham.
Molby favours a five-man midfield and a solitary striker but, as in the first meeting, he opted for two up front in Bo Henriksen and Jesper Christiansen.
In contrast to their defensive frailties, Kidderminster gave Wolves plenty to think about going forward, which is perhaps only to be expected from a team managed by Molby.
Wolves, for their part, were hurried in their passing and shooting; so it came as no surprise that a set-piece proved pivotal to them breaking the deadlock. Mark Kennedy floated a free kick to the far post for Ganea to head back across the six-yard box and, with Brock in no man's land, Miller's header looped over him.
Harriers, to their credit, refused to be cowed and ended the half by coming within a whisker of equalising when Henriksen flicked Graham Ward's right-wing cross just wide.
The Harriers fate was sealed when after they were unlucky to see Ward's goal-bound header blocked, Miller's 65th minute cross from the right hit the far post and, although Craig Hinton thumped the ball clear, the linesman ruled it had crossed the line.
