Tiger Woods carded a final round four-under-par 68 to win the Target World Challenge by seven strokes from Zach Johnson.
Woods tied Davis Love's tournament record with a total of 22-under 266, earning £668,000 which he will donate to his foundation.
It was his fourth victory in the nine-year history of the event he hosts in southern California.
Woods began the day at Sherwood Country Club with a six-stroke lead and increased that to seven after Jim Furyk made a bogey on the par-five second.
But his fellow American reduced it to six with a birdie on at the fourth and there was a two-shot swing on the seventh hole when Furyk made birdie and Woods lipped out for par.
On the par-three next Woods missed the green for the fourth consecutive day and although he saved par Furyk birdied to get within three.
He could have closed that to one when Woods hit his approach to the ninth into a greenside bunker and bogeyed but Furyk's 18-foot birdie putt missed to the right.
But at the very next hole the world number three made a crucial mistake that cost him his chance to catch Woods, three-putting from four feet while Woods made birdie for a two-shot swing.
As if his four-stroke cushion was not enough Woods eagled the 16th to go seven ahead.
Furyk finished with a 71 which saw him drop behind Masters champion Zach Johnson, who matched Woods' 68.
England's Lee Westwood saved his best for last as a six-under 66 lifted him into fourth on 11 under.
Woods had taken the best part of three months off prior to the tournament but said the break had obviously had no adverse effects.
"I felt really good about my preparation coming into the event. Unfortunately I wasn't able to hit the ball consistently like I wanted to for all four days, but I putted well for all four days, and as we all know, that also makes up for a lot of sins," he said.
"It's been a long year but also one that we've (he and caddy Steve Williams) thoroughly enjoyed.
"I just can't wait until next season starts. That's where I think this break has been really nice. I've been fired up to come back and practice and play and get after it again, and this week gives me just a lot of excitement heading into my practice sessions and getting ready for next year."
