Tiger Woods is on course to be fit to play in the US Open after surgery on his left knee

Tiger Woods is on course to be fit to play in the US Open after surgery on his left knee. He has only chipped and putted so far but the world number one is targeting a return to action at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio at the end of the month.

And he expects to be fully ready for the second major of the year between June 12th and 15th at Torrey Pines.

Woods said: "The rehab is going well. I've been training hard. I'm getting sick and tired of riding the bike, though. That gets old fast.

"I'm chipping and putting. I'm not doing anything beyond that. Hopefully I'll start hitting balls, start progressing soon and work my way up the bag."
