Open Championship Draw:England's Justin Rose and Scot Paul Lawrie have been paired with Tiger Woods for the first two rounds of the Open Championship at Carnoustie which gets underway this Thursday.

The world number one begins his bid for a hat-trick of titles - something last achieved by Australian Peter Thomson - at 9.09am on Thursday.

Lawrie was the winner of the last Carnoustie Open in 1999, but has since slipped to 282nd in the world.

That is even lower than when he beat Jean Van de Velde and Justin Leonard in a four-hole play-off, having started the final day 10 strokes behind the Frenchman in 1999.

Rose's best Open finish remains his fourth place as a 17-year-old amateur at Birkdale in 1998, and he was also paired with Woods at Muirfield in 2002.

Waterville's David Higgins is first of the seven-strong Irish contingent to take to the course. He sets-off at 6.41am with American Kevin Stadler and recent French Open winner Graeme Storm.

Darren Clarke is the next Irishman onto the course at 7.58am alongside American duo Chad Campbell and Chris DiMarco.

Clarke's fellow Ryder Cup teammate Paul McGinley is next at 10:04am and he is in the same group as JJ Henry and John Senden.

Justin Kehoe sets-off at 10:59am alongside Mattias Eliasson and David Gleeson while Padraig Harrington is one of the afternoon starters, teeing off at 1.20pm with US Amateur Champion Richie Ramsay and David Toms.

Rory McIlroy is two slots behind Harrington in a plum group alongside Miguel Angel Jimenez and Henrik Stenson as they tee-off at 1.42pm.

Graeme McDowell finds himself alongside current Masters champion Zach Johnson and two-time
 José Maria Olazabal in the group which sets off at 2:31pm.
