World number one Tiger Woods will take time off from the PGA Tour and may not play again until the US Open in June in order to spend time with his ill father.
Woods' father Earl has been battling cancer and while the 30-year-old was not specific about his plans he said he did not plan to start playing again "for a while".
"It's kinda up in the air with the situation back home, so I don't know what's going to happen," Woods told reporters in Auckland.
"I'm taking time off. . . andd be with my father, so I won't play for a while," he added. "My father is hanging in there, the guy is an absolute fighter."
Woods, who finished tied for third at the Masters earlier this month will seek his 11th major title at the US Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck from June 15th-18th.
