Tiger Woods was on the wrong end of a whitewash in the annual match between the stars of the Isleworth and Lake Nona clubs in Orlando today.
Woods and his partner John Cook had an opening day better-ball of 65, but red-hot opponents Henrik Stenson and Chris DiMarco went round Lake Nona in a remarkable 15-under-par 57.
Justin Rose, playing after three weeks out with back trouble, partnered close friend Ian Poulter to a 61 and beat Robert Allenby and Craig Parry by six.
Retief Goosen and Trevor Immelman added the third point, defeating Stuart Appleby and Nick O'Hern 64-65, then Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell, teaming up with Ben Curtis, almost holed his approach to the last for a 63-64 win over Lee Janzen and Scott Hoch.
"It's always nice to do it in style," said McDowell.
With two points for a win, Ernie Els and Mark McNulty made it 10-0 with a 62-66 victory against Charles Howell and Mark O'Meara.
There are 20 points at stake in today's singles, with each player facing separate matches against both his opponents.
Woods is up against Els and Goosen.
The Tavistock Cup was first played in 2004 and has become an annual match between players from the two clubs.
The two-day team event carries a purse valued at more than $2.5 million, a figure also placed on the amount donated to local charities since the event began.
