LORCAN WYER came through unscathed in his first day riding over fences and hurdles since his horrible fall last November.

He completed the course on Village Reindeer in the first race at Newcastle yesterday and then finished third on Dally Boy in the final race.

Vyer, whose terrible injuries included a smashed jaw and broken pelvis, rode in a bumper race at Market Rasen last Tuesday.

But an ankle injury he picked up at the start of that race had kept him off again until yesterday.

"That was my first proper day back and I feel it's gone quite well. I'm not as strong as I was but I'm sure it'll only take a few days to get back to normal."
