Wyer to learn his fate today

The injury-hit jump jockey Lorcan Wyer hopes to discover today when he can return from his latest spell on the sidelines

The injury-hit jump jockey Lorcan Wyer hopes to discover today when he can return from his latest spell on the sidelines. The Irishman, retained by Tim Easterby, has been out of action since tests last month he is revealed he was suffering from a thyroid condition.

"He won't know any more until he sees the consultant tomorrow at 6.30 in the evening," Wyer's wife Nora explained.

"But he is still able to ride out and he is playing in a golf day in aid of the Shane Broderick appeal today."

Wyer (32) missed three months of last season after shattering his jaw in a fall on Thornton Gate at Aintree last November and was sidelined again when injured in a fall on the same horse at Doncaster in March.
