We are trading up a little this week with two very good wines from O’Briens. Both are well worth paying a little more for.
The Lagar de Costa is one of my favourite wines. It is not the cheapest Albariño, but it offers great value for money, especially at the promotional price. I tried several Longview wines recently and enjoyed them all. The Adelaide Hills region, close to the city of Adelaide, includes some cooler vineyards resulting in some elegant wines.

Lagar de Costa Rías Baixas 2023, Albariño
Lightly floral aromas, followed by a delicious palate of ripe pears and nectarines with lemon zest and a lovely saline note off the dry finish. A wonderful wine to enjoy with all kinds of fish and shellfish. 13% abv, €17.95 down from €21.95.

Longview Shiraz Cabernet 2019, Adelaide Hills, Australian
Smooth, svelte rich blackcurrant and blueberry fruits, a touch of chocolate and a rounded finish. Save this for barbecued or grilled steak, butterflied leg of lamb or gourmet burgers. 14% abv, €15.16 from €18.95.
