Two more classics this week from Tesco, which offers a variety of very decent well-priced French wines. I bought these in a larger branch and cannot guarantee they will be available in all outlets. The Touraine is one in a range of Loire white wines under the Atmosphere label stocked by Tesco. It also includes a Muscadet, Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.

Atmosphere Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2020, €9
Not overly aromatic, with soft stone fruits – peaches and nectarines – perked up by a lively acidity. Try this with a soft goat's cheese salad, or some grilled plaice with a tartare sauce.

Château Pinet la Houssaie 2017, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, €10
Blaye is one of the value regions of Bordeaux, producing some very good quality wines. This is a very attractive medium-bodied red with supple plum and blackcurrant fruits and light tannins. Try this with baked ham or pork chops. Good value at this price.
