Ireland’s top 10 beaches for 2018 revealed by Tripadvisor

Inch beach on the Dingle peninsula has been awarded the top spot as Ireland's best beach for 2018 by Tripadvisor.

The Blue Flag Inch beach stretches more than 5km into Dingle Bay with views of Slieve Mish and MacGillicuddy Reeks.

"Probably the best beach in the world," one Tripadvisor user commented.

The awards are determined from traveller reviews and ratings from the beaches on Tripadvisor over a 12-month period.

Inchydoney beach in west Cork came in second place for the second year in a row. The beach is located just a few kilometres from Clonakilty and is backed by dunes.

Dog’s Bay beach in Roundstone, Co Galway was voted into third place in the survey.

"Year after year Ireland's beaches continue to beat many others located in exotic destinations around the globe, proving that it's not just good weather that makes a cracking beach," TripAdvisor spokeswoman Hayley Coleman said.

The world's best beach is the seven mile long beach Grace Bay in Providenciales, the main island of Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean.

La Concha Beach in San Sebastian was voted Europe's number one beach. It is located in the city centre and has 1,500 metres of white sand.
