A man in his late teens and four men in their 20s have been arrested in relation to the serious assault of a young man in Thurles, Co Tipperary last month.
The man, aged in his late teens, was assaulted at Upperchurch Village on June 27th between 11pm and 12.30am. He was taken to Cork University Hospital and remains in intensive care (ICU).
Gardaí arrested the five men in relation to the assault on Friday morning.
They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a number of Tipperary Garda stations.
