A woman is in a serious condition and three others are injured following a two-car collision in Baltinglass in Co Wicklow on Sunday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of the crash at about 6pm on Sunday on the R747 at Kilmurray Lower between Baltinglass and Kiltegan.

The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Naas General Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries. A woman in her 70s and a 7-year-old girl were also taken to hospitals in Naas and Tallaght with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the second car, a woman in her 50s, was also taken to Naas General Hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The scene of the crash has been preserved for Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.
