Sir, – The recent Garda figures confirming that road deaths in 2017 were the lowest since records began in 1959 should be welcomed. However, it should be pointed out that 2017 was the deadliest year in over a decade for cyclists. Motorists should keep this in mind while driving, especially those whose have an aggressive dislike of cyclists. – Yours, etc,
