Sir, – Imagine my surprise at receiving a Christmas card, posted last December, on February 25th. The card came from friends in the Cork Gaeltacht, and was correctly addressed. Instead of using Dublin 9 for my address, they inserted B.A.C. 9. An Post, obviously not having a clue what B.A.C. 9 meant, looked at the next line of my address, Whitehall, and redirected the card to Whitehall, London, putting a note on the envelope, “Try London”.
It was eventually returned to Dublin by the Royal Mail, which put a sticker on it saying it was insufficiently addressed and to “Try Dublin”. – Yours, etc,
