Sir, – Moving people to live in higher density housing within the idea of a 15-Minute City is clearly something we need to move towards given the drastic changes needed in lifestyles if we are to respond effectively to climate change. But it is clear that the developers and town planners have not yet understood what this means.
The developers still seem to focus on high profit studio and one-bed apartments, impossible for families, and the planners don’t seem to have realised that for families to move in from the suburbs, they must restructure our towns and cities to include close access to green spaces where children can safely play, and streets for people to move around without the need to dodge mechanical transport.
All this is very difficult given the medieval structure of our cities, but not impossible.
We need to get on with it.
– Yours, etc,
PATRICK DAVEY,
